TMC provides professional fire protection/consulting services to industries, municipalities and government agencies. Our primary expertise lies in the field of assisting in development of improved firefighting suppression, rescue and training procedures involving aircraft activities. Additionally, TMC provides Internet search capability, electronic Commerce Business Daily (CBD) searches and retrievals, and Electronic Commerce Information (ECI) search and retrieval. We also provide consulting in construction project reviews and follow-ups, including on-site visits.

EMPLOYEES

Theodore R Taipalus, President: A veteran of the Korean War, Ted has over forty-seven years experience in the fire protection profession. He began as a firefighter in 1955 for the United States Air Force and retired in 1981 as the Director of Operations, U.S. Air Force Fire Protection where he was responsible for policy and technology development affecting 10,000 fire fighters operating 2500 fire fighting vehicles in nearly 300 locations world-wide. As Director of Air Force Fire Protection, Ted successfully established a remanufacturing program for 296 major Airfield Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles; revised the Federal Fire Fighter Uniform Standard; developed a new Federal Fire Fighter Grade Schedule and Compensation Plan; served as a member of the Department of Defense Joint Services Fire Protection Committee; provided technical assistance and acted as an expert witness for the Department of Justice in establishing the government case surrounding a multiple fire fatalities law suit; in addition to his normal responsibilities for manpower requirements, training standards, fire prevention practices, fire protection engineering standards and fire station design standards. From 1981 to present he owns and operates Taipalus Marketing & Consulting, Inc. (TMC Company). Since founding TMC, Ted has been providing consulting services to the major fire protection suppliers and manufacturers of vehicles, equipment, services and training. He has been responsible for, or in attendance at numerous meetings, seminars and work shops at all levels of Air Force Command, up to and including briefing congressional committees. These efforts have required the presentation of graphic materials, expert witnesses, conception designs and in-depth knowledge of both peace time and war time fire protection operation requirements.

Ann Staub, Director of Marketing/Sales: Ann joined TMC Company in September of 1989. She is responsible for acquiring and processing government bids and purchase orders in addition to conducting electronic CBD searches, EDI business transactions, Internet information searches and acts as customer liaison. She has full responsibility for the administrative requirements of TMC Company. She arranges travel, compiles reports, maintains liaison with current accounts, processes contractual arrangements and establishes meetings. Additionally, Ann is responsible for general bookkeeping, contracting Interspiro maintenance training classes, organizing, planning and scheduling our annual customer hospitality room, and is the point of contact for our consultants. She possesses an in-depth knowledge of all technical reports and other related documentation required by the activities of the company.

John Taipalus - Marketing & Training: John joined the Air Force in December of 1980. Upon completion of basic training, he attended technical training at Chanute AFB, IL to become a Fire Protection craftsman. In April 1981 he was assigned to Nellis AFB, NV where he was assigned as a hand lineman and driver/operator. In 1983 he was transferred to Clark AFB, Republic of the Philippines, where he held duties as a driver/operator, crew chief and NCOIC of Supply. Returning to CONUS in November 1986 John was assigned to Loring AFB, ME where he held the duties of crew chief, station captain and NCOIC of the Fire Communications Center. In April of 1989, John was transferred to Suwan AB, Republic of Korea, where he served as Fire Prevention Inspector, Extinguisher Maintenance and interim Fire Chief. In 1990, he returned to the states and was assigned to Detachment 2, Air Force Civil Engineer and Services Center (AFCESC), Base Recovery After Attack (BRAAT) School, Eglin AFB, FL, where he began his career as a Fire Protection Contingency Training Instructor.

In April 1993 John relocated with the school to Tyndall AFB, FL as it organized to become the Silver Flag Exercise Site under Detachment 1, 823rd RED HORSE Squadron. In addition to being an instructor, John held duties as the Vehicle Control Non Commissioned Officer (VCNCO), Unit Frequency Manager and finished his career as Superintendent, Fire Protection Contingency Training.

CONSULTANTS

James Goodbread: Jim’s professional career encompasses 34 years in United States Air Force Fire Protection, 16 of which were spent in the position of Fire Chief at one of the largest and most complex facilities in the Air Force, Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. Jim has extensive experience with heavy industrial processes, large frame aircraft firefighting and safety, aircraft depot maintenance operations, airport emergency response and firefighter safety and health.

Jim’s accreditations include IFSAC Fire Officer IV, IFSAC Hazardous Materials Incident Command, Chairman of the Air Force 1500 Firefighter Safety and Health Committee; he represented the Air Force on the NFPA 1710 Fire Ground Operations ARFF Task Group and was Chairman of the Air Force Firefighter Uniform Committee.

Jim is a long time member of the National Fire Protection Association, Oklahoma Metro Fire Chiefs Association, and International Association of Fire Chiefs. Throughout his career, he has received many awards, which include the Air Force Material Command Sanborn Award, Committee of 100 Award and was the Tinker Air Force Base Career Achievement Nominee in 2001.

TMC successes and current marketing initiatives:

Assisted Interspiro, USA in receiving the Air Force contract for 16,000 self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). This was the largest SCBA purchase in the history of the industry.

Pro-Safe alternative fuel training systems to various Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian fire service agencies. These training systems extend from small units for fire extinguisher training to mobile trainers for both structural and aircraft live-fire training. In addition to mobile units, Pro-Safe designed, built and delivered a fixed trainer to Alpena Air National Guard base. Additionally, Pro-Safe delivered numerous MAFT units to the US Navy for shipboard fire fighting training.

Tri-Max compressed air foam fire extinguishing systems. The Army is currently replacing dry chemical flightline extinguishers with the Tri-Max 30 unit. The Air Force is currently testing Tri-Max 2100 foam as a possible replacement agent for Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) currently being used in all Air Force crash rescue fire fighting vehicles.

Responsible for the joint development, testing and marketing of the RMT-2000, a portable compressed air foam fire extinguishing system for use in aircraft maintenance and parking facilities, hot-pit refueling stations, etc..

Development for the United States Government of an automatic turret mounted on a crash rescue vehicle for the purpose of automatically detecting a fire, activating the water/foam stream and deactivating the stream upon extinguishment.

Developed the concept for a aircraft/structural fire fighting vehicle incorporating an aerial ladder capable of being raised, extended and flowing fire fighting agent operated from the cab while the vehicle is approaching the fire area. This idea was accepted by L.T.I. management and engineering. A prototype vehicle was built and delivered to the Baltimore Washington National Airport. This prototype vehicle was the forerunner of the Snozzle©.

Assisted in obtaining information and technical expertise available in the United States for the establishment of Fire Training Schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This included the exclusive rights from the Oklahoma State University to translate all International Fire Service Training Association text books to the Arabic language. Also, conducted a site survey in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Provided manpower, equipment, crash fire fighting vehicle requirements for Al Bayda's contract proposal to provide fire protection at the new Riyadh International Airport for the Saudi Arabian Government. Also provided technical proposals to include inspection schedules, training requirements and salary ranges.

Assisted Ansul in the development and marketing strategy for a new quick reaction Halon 1301 Fire Fighting System to be installed in U.S. Air Force's Hardened Air Crash Shelters throughout Europe and Asia. Also provided technical assistance in the second generation infrared guided crash fire fighting turret.
